Skiing and Snowshoe Hiking

The Plose is the backyard mountain of Brixen/Bressanone. It's where children and adults can learn to ski and snowboard. Thanks to the autobahn, it's fast and easy to reach the Rosskopf ski area near Sterzing/Vipiteno (which has the longest tobogganing course) and Ratschings/Racines with its snowy northern slopes (and guaranteed snow). The central location of Mittewald/Mezzaselva makes it possible to find affordable accommodations and still have a ski area nearby. The same is true for ski tours and snowshoe hiking, which is increasing in popularity.
